AIMF strongly condemns the brutal
terrorist attacks on the Amarnath pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir
Appeals to the Election Commission of India not to succumb to the
fascist designs of B.J.P.
Lucknow, August
10, 2002: The monthly State Level Workers' Meeting of All India Muslim Forum was held today at the Common Hall of Darul-Shafa's 'A' Bloc. It was presided over by the U.P. President of Muslim Forum Mr Salahuddin Khan, Advocate and attended by the delegates from many Districts. The President of Muslim Forum Dr M.K. Sherwani participated as a special invitee. After exhaustive deliberations, the following resolutions were unanimously passed.
1. The Meeting strongly condemned the brutal terrorist attacks on the Amarnath pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir in which the lives of innocent persons have been lost. Terming such attacks by the terrorists as the worst kind of savagery, the meeting, through a resolution, urged the government to show ample courage and adopt ruthless measures in preventing the recurrence of such ghastly incidents.
2. The Meeting made a fervent appeal to the Election Commission of India not to succumb to the fascist designs of
B.J.P. by holding the Assembly elections in Gujarat at present. It expressed the view that if at this crucial juncture of the country's history, when the democratic institutions are collapsing under the weight of fascism, the
B.J.P. is allowed to take the electoral advantage of the carnage of Muslims whose blood has still not dried up on the streets of Gujarat, the secular polity will be definitely heading towards its natural death.
3. The meeting assailed the nefarious designs of all political parties in giving a legal protection to the criminalisation of politics by nullifying, through parliamentary legislation, the sincere endeavour of Honourable Supreme Court and the Election Commission of India to put an effective curb on the entry of criminals into the political arena. The unanimity amongst all the parties on this issue is most reprehensible and must be condemned by all the moral majority of the country.
