IMF Condemns attack on Hindu Temple

London, 25 September, 2002: Indian Muslim Federation (UK) condemns the yesterday's attack on the civilians in Gujarat, India in the Swaminarayan Temple in Gandhinagar. IMF urges the Indian Government to ensure that all necessary steps should be taken to protect the life of all citizens.

IMF also urges the Government of India that as recommended by the Election Commission of India, President rule should be imposed immediately in Gujarat. The present care taker government of BJP has no good record of governance specially after the Godhra incident in February this year and even inflamed the communal tension in the state which resulted the state sponsored pogrom of the Muslims.

IMF demands that the perpetrators of this act should be brought to justice without delay and the Government of India should take action against all perpetrators, who try to destroy the peace and harmony in India.

IMF also demands that strict action should be taken against the anti communal elements and terrorist who destroy religious places including hundreds of Mosques destroyed in Gujarat this year and also against those who destroyed the Babri Mosque in December 1992.
