AIMMM Felicitates the People of J&K for Punishing NC for its Alliance with BJP

Appeals to INC and PDP to Form Govt. and Negotiate with Centre for Restoration of Special Status and Autonomy

New Delhi, 10 October, 2002: Shri Syed Shahabuddin, President of the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM), has issued the following Statement:

"The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) warmly felicitates the people of Jammu and Kashmir for showing the door to the Dynasty and admires their political sagacity for punishing the National Conference for its opportunistic and unprincipled alliance with the BJP.

The AIMMM appeals to the Congress and the PDP to come together to form a strong Government in order to fulfill the aspirations of the people for good governance and development.

The AIMMM hopes that new State Government will give the highest priority, in accordance with its mandate to undertake serious negotiations with the Centre for the restoration of the Special Status and Autonomy of the State and thus pave the way for a final settlement of the Kashmir problem."
