Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind
12TH DAY OF JUH MOVEMENT
New Delhi, 13 October, 2002: The Movement, entitled Mulk-o-Millat
Bachao (Save the Nation & the Country) launched by Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind,
entered its 12th Day. Mufti Khair-ul-Islam, Vice President Jamiat Ulama
Assam led a group of more than three thousand protesters. The group left
Kali Masjid, Nizamuddin for demonstration at Parliament Street. Before
courting arrest, Mufti Khair-ul-Islam addressed the group. He said, The
vitality demonstrated by you in responding to the call of Jamiat
Ulama-i-Hind may prove the death knell of communalists. I congratulate you
for the courage and sense of responsibility.
The movement has instilled courage and confidence among the people, at
Delhi, and all over the Country. The leaders of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind never
played with the sentiments of the people. The organization has correctly
represented the community and led them in the right direction. The
acceptance of the demands placed by Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, shall benefit
Muslims as well as serve the larger interests of the country.
It appears that the Government does not want the end of terrorism in the
country. Had it been so, it should have banned organizations like RSS,
Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal and others. They are persistently
engaged in demolishing mosques. They are determined to injure the feelings
of Muslims by demanding amendment of the text of the Holy Book of Muslims.
They have been emboldened to take out processions to celebrate the
genocide of Muslims.
It is our firm demand that the Government of India should not marely
accede to demands of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, but should take early steps for
their implementation.
As soon as Mufti Sahib finished his speech, he and the group led by him
were taken into custody by the Police Station, Parliament Street, New
Delhi.
