Declare Shiv Sena a Terrorist Organization and Prosecute Thackeray under POTA
AIMMM Also Demands Disaffiliation of Shiv Sena by the NDA and its Disqualification by the Election Commission

New Delhi, 18 October, 2002: Shri Syed Shahabuddin, President of the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM), has issued the following Statement:

"The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) draws the attention of the Central Government, the Government of Maharashtra and of the Election Commission of India to the Dussehra speech of the Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray, calling upon the Hindus to take to terrorism and form suicide squads and thus save the country from the threats to its integrity that Pakistan and the Muslim community of India pose.

The obvious communal tone and purpose of the diatribe is to incite the Hindus into terrorist acts and to terrorise the Muslims, a challenge to the Constitution, the law of the land and the rule of Law. The prosecution of Bal Thackeray under Section 153A of the IPC is not adequate to the seriousness of the situation.

The AIMMM, therefore, demands declaration of Shiv Sena as a terrorist organisation and the immediate detention and prosecution of Bal Thackeray under the POTA.

The AIMMM also demands the disaffiliation of the Shiv Sena by the National Democratic Alliance and its disqualification as a recognized party by the Election Commission of India."
