THE OBSERVANCE OF DECEMBER 6, AS 'THE DAY OF NATIONAL SHAME’

2002: All India Muslim Forum has decided to observe December 6, 2002 - the tenth anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid - as 'THE DAY OF NATIONAL SHAME' and will commemorate this tragic incident by holding 'A PEACEFUL PROTEST DHARNA' outside Vidhan Sabha, Lucknow from 12.noon to 4.p.m..As the festival of Eidul-Fitra , in all probability, is also likely to fall on December,6, the Muslim Forum volunteers have been directed to reach the place of Dharna after offering their Eid prayers and express their outraged feelings by wearing black badges.
Giving this information through a joint press statement, the President of All India Muslim Forum, Dr. MK Sherwani and its UP President Mr Salahuddin Khan, further revealed that an appeal has also been issued to Muslims not to wear new clothes and avoid all kinds of ostentation and festivity on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitra. Instead, they must pray for their Gujarat brethren and early reconstruction of Babri Masjid at its original site.
Both Dr Sherwani and Salahuddin Khan emphasized that this year's December,6 assumes greater proportions of anguish and grief because it is preceded by the unprecedented pogrom, devastation and depredation which the Muslims of Gujarat have suffered at the hands of the country's most fiendish fascist forces. The atrocities against Muslims have not only convulsed the conscience of the moral majority of the country but have also ruthlessly shaken its secular foundations.
Given this horrifying background, it would be the greatest shame for the Muslims of the entire world, especially of India, if their observance of the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitra does not reflect the grief of their brethren of Gujrat who are still languishing in relief camps in a state of total deprivation and with a
completely bleak future.
