Victory of fascist Hindu organisation BJP in Gujarat

London, 15 December, 2002: The Council of Indian Muslims –UK (CIM) has expressed deep concern at the victory of fascist Hindu organisation BJP in the western Indian state of Gujarat.

During the recent state sponsored genocide in the state more than 2,000 Muslims were massacred, hundred of women were raped and properties worth of millions of pounds were destroyed and looted.

"Giving the continuous venomous speeches by the members of Sangh Parivar and their promises to the voters to repeat Gujarat’s ‘experiment’ elsewhere in India, we are not surprised by BJP’s victory." CIM’s chairman Mr Munaf Zeena said in a statement today.

"However", he added, "despite the fact that the situation is alarming for religious minorities in Gujarat in particular and India in general, we are sure that this shark will not be allowed to succeed anywhere else by the right thinking Indians and the innate goodness bestowed upon human beings by the Almighty will at last triumph."

Mr Zeena also said that the BJP’s success should not be seen by the world community as India’s internal problem. "Our concern is not unfounded. We cannot emphasise more on what the BJP’s fascist tentacles are capable to do. Reports after reports conducted by national and international institutions and human rights organisations speak volume of the heartlessness, sadist and cruel nature of Sangh Parivar. It is time now that India is asked to take measures to stop the propagation of hate by the BJP and the Sangh Parivar."
