ALL INDIA MUSLIM FORUM

Monthly state level 'Workers Meeting' and its resolutions

Lucknow: June, 10, 2003 - The monthly Workers Meeting of All India Muslim Forum was held today in the Common Hall of Darul-Shafa's 'A' Bloc. The meeting was presided over by the U. P. President of Muslim Forum, Mr Salahuddin Khan, advocate, and attended by the workers and office bearers from many Distts. The president of Muslim Forum, Dr M. K. Sherwani, participated as a special invitee.

The meeting expressed deep anguish and outrage at the harassment of the workers and office bearers of Muslim Forum by the Lucknow Distt. Administration. Giving the details of such incidents of political vindictiveness, Mr Salahuddin Khan revealed that the office bearers of Muslim Forum are being falsely implicated in connection with the violence that erupted at Akbari Gate, Lucknow, about two years back. About six months ago, arrest warrants were issued against the Lucknow Joint Secretary of Muslim Forum, Mr Intasarul- Haque and he had to obtain bail from the court. Recently, all the records of police highhandedness are broken when arrest warrants have been issued against the Lucknow Secretary of Forum, Mr Rehmat Ali Ansari, a resident of Moazzam Nagar, who has been seriously ill for about two months and is presently almost on the death bed. Despite his serious condition, the local police are adamant to arrest him. Prior to this, the U. P. Secretary of Muslim Forum, Mr Moinullah Khan was falsely implicated in connection with the violence at Teele-Wali Masjid on the eve of 12, Rabiul-Awwal. Mr Khan was arrested and sent to jail and was released through the court after many days.

Expressing deep anger over the arrest warrants against Mr Rehmat Ali Ansari, Dr. M. K. Sherwani and Salahuddin Khan disclosed at the meeting that if he (Mr Ansari) is arrested from his death bed, Muslim Forum will give a call for Lucknow Bandh and hold a massive protest Dharna outside Vidhan Sabha. Both the leaders further revealed that a representation has been faxed to the U. P. Chief Minister, MS Mayawati, and soon a high level Muslim Forum delegation will meet the Honourable Governor and the Chief Minister in this connection.

(Dr Aftab Ahmed)
President, Distt. Lucknow
