The Babri Masjid imbroglio
Lucknow: July, 7, 2003: All India Muslim Forum has strongly condemned the heinous role played by a few Maulanas of All India Muslim Personal Law Board in stage managing the whole saga of dramatic events, right from arranging a meeting between the Shankaracharya and an innocuous and gullible Chairman of the Board, Maulana Rabe Hasni.
In press statement issued here, the president of Muslim Forum, Dr. M. K. Sherwani lamented that the Maulanas behind this heinous role are the same who remain at the forefront during every election in issuing the appeals, from many platforms, but using their designations of the Board, in favour of different parties and candidates. Further , they are the ones who collect huge amounts of money from foreign countries and always act under the pressure of the governments. Dr Sherwani stressed that these few dirty elements in the Board have denigrated its whole image. If there was to be any sincere effort for resolving the Ayodhya tangle through negotiations, there might have been a serious exercise and all the concerned outfits and bodies on both the sides should have formed respective representative, authorizing them to hold the parleys. Astonishingly, the way Shankracharya's meeting was arranged secretly with Maulana Rabey Hasni and the so called formula was kept in wraps for some time, giving rise to countless speculations, is an abundant proof that these Maulanas, either deliberately or through their myopic vision, have fallen into the trap of
Hindutva forces.
Dr Sherwani is of the firm opinion that had this formula been rejected outright, i. e. the moment it was received, RSS and other forces of Hindutwa lobby would not have succeeded in giving such a vigorous impetus to this fading issue, and sending a message across the world that Muslims have rejected a compromise formula. He has advised the honest members of the Board to rein in these unscrupulous elements within their ranks, otherwise this Body will suffer an irreparable loss. As regards the Babri Masjid dispute, Dr. Sherwani said that he believes that the judicial verdict remains the only solution , and the Muslim personal Law Board will not commit such a folly in future.
