New Delhi, 25 August, 2003: Shri Syed Shahabuddin, President of the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM), has issued the following Statement:
"The AIMMM expresses its deep sorrow at the demise of Prof. Ali Mohammad Khusro, one of the greatest sons of Muslim India of national eminence since independence and regards it as a great loss for the community and the country.
Prof. A.M. Khusro was a man of many worlds. He was an economist of world renown and as an expert of public finance he served as the Chairman of the 10th Finance Commission. As an educationist, he served the AMU as its Vice-Chancellor and then as its Chancellor. As a diplomat, he served as Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany.
A multi-dimensional personality, he was an embodiment of culture and his commitment to the cause of Urdu and to communal harmony through inter-faith dialogue, knew no bounds. Through his speeches and writings on the problems faced by the community and the country, he made a lasting contribution to their conceptual understanding and eventual solution.
The AIMMM offers its sincere condolences to the bereaved family and to his vast circle of friends and admirers and prays to Allah for granting ‘Sabr-e-Jamil’ to them all and eternal peace to the departed soul."
