TAMILNADU MUSLIM KAZHAGAM
The recent Mumbai blasts: Apprehend Real Culprits
Chennai, 27 August, 2003:
Press Statement of Prof. M.H.Jawahirullah, President, TamilNadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam regarding the recent Mumbai blasts.
TamilNadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam condemns vehemently the dastardly bomb blasts, which claimed more than 50 lives at Mumbai on Monday.
The barbaric blasts has resulted in the loss of valuable of lives and maimed a huge of amount of innocent people including women and children. This senseless act has given each of us immense amount of grief and sorrow.
In this tragic situation all sections of the Indian society should firmly take a determination that they will not allow the bomb culture to prevail in this country. The whole country should be united to thwart all attempts of certain vested interest to destroy the peaceful social harmony of the country.
I also appeal that the Government, Police as well as the Media should desist from giving a religious tag to the perpetrators of these types of inhuman crimes. The perpetrators of these types of crimes do not have the sanction of any religion for their merciless barbaric crimes. Hence the villains of these crimes should be ostracized and should not be considered as part of any religious denominations.
These types of blasts in the final tally have been fruitful only to those whose political agenda is religious fanaticism. In the long run, these will only hamper the welfare of the secular minded citizens of our country as well as the minorities.
The Monday blasts in Mumbai are the last in a series of blasts that have rocked the commercial capital of the country in recent times. Each time when the blasts rock the city, the Mumbai Police have announced that they have apprehended the real culprits and the masterminds behind the terror attacks. However no sooner the ink dries another blast shatters the peace of the city. This situation makes one wonder as to whether the Police are merely detaining some elements who may have certain criminal antecedents but who are not involved in the incidents and turning a blind eye to the real perpetrators of the terror crimes. The Police may be indulging in this ploy only to show to their bosses that they have solved the case expeditiously. These kind of lethargic attitude on the part of the Police will not only fail to prevent the recurrence of such events but also become a reason for further blasts to certain hot headed elements.
The Government should also seriously look into the reasons that contributed towards the tragic blasts and take steps to expeditiously solve the problem. Instead of putting the blame on certain organizations, the government should direct all its energies to apprehend the real perpetrators of this crime. I also appeal that the Maharashtra Government should appoint an Enquiry commission to go through the entire series of the blasts that have rocked Mumbai in the recent months.
TamilNadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam expresses its heartfelt condolences to fellow citizens who have lost their kith and kin in this tragic event.
