TAMILNADU MUSLIM KAZHAGAM
The following is the text of letter to Mr. Mulayam Singh Yadav on assuming the mantle of the Chief Ministership of Uttar Pradesh
Chennai, 30 August, 2003:
The following is the text of letter send to Mr. Mulayam Singh Yadav, Chief Minister of U.P. by Prof M.H. Jawahirullah, President, Tamilnadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam.
On behalf of TamilNadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam, I congratulate you and express my profound happiness on your assuming the mantle of the Chief Ministership of Uttar Pradesh. The entire minority community in India is beaming with joy that a committed secularists like you is now leading a Government in UttarPradesh, which is in the centre of many disputes involving secularism and religious intolerance.
We thankfully recall the efforts take by you as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in enforcing rule of law when terrorists in the garb of Karsevaks tried to demolish the historic Babri Masjid. We also gratuitously recall the courage, grit and determination exhibited by you in not bowing to fascist pressure but standing upright to uphold the Constitution and its secular ethos when certain extremist forces tried to run their writ over the state in the Babri Masjid issue. If you would have been the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in December 1992, we are doubly sure the demolition of Babri Masjid would not have become a reality.
The secular values once again beckon you. The fascists who led the demolition of Babri Masjid have manipulated the previous state machinery in Uttar Pradesh and have tried to escape from the clutches of Law. It was tragic to see the accused in the Babri Masjid case also becoming the prosecutors in the case and so far they have been successful in escaping from the jaws of punishment. However on your assuming the leadership of the Government in Uttar Pradesh, we are sure that you will not allow the culprits who led the Babri Masjid demolition squad to escape from punishment for the heinous crime they committed on 6th December 1992.
In this connection we would like to point out that you are having a good opportunity to nail the leaders of the demolition squad of Babri Masjid on September 1, when the Supreme Court of India will hear a review petition challenging the Mayawati Government’s decision last year to refer the demolition case against Advani and others to Rae Bareli which, in effect, let the leaders of the demolition squad from the conspiracy charges We are sure that your Government will tell the Supreme Court that it has no objection to the review petition being allowed. This stand will allow the secular government led by you to issue a fresh notification (on the lines advised earlier by the Allahabad High Court) to ensure that all the accused, including the eight leaders, are tried together in the Lucknow special court on the charge of conspiracy.
On behalf of the Minority community in TamilNadu, I once again congratulate you on becoming the Chief Minister of one of the most populous and important state of our country and pray that under your leadership communal harmony and rule of law will prevail in your State, which in fact will have positive repercussions throughout the country.
Sd/- M.H.Jawahirullah
