Mushawarat Demands Medical Treatment for the Injured and Ex-gratia Relief for Families of those Killed
Removal of Modi Must to Restore Normalcy in Gujarat
New Delhi, 4 November, 2003: Shri Syed Shahabuddin, President of the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM), has issued the following Statement:
"The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) condemns the communal violence in Viramgam, Gujarat in which, as usual, the police, which is totally communalized under Modi Government, not only intervened one side of one community but shot down totally innocent Muslims and injured many others.
The AIMMM mourns the loss of life, limb and property and demands the best available medical facilities for the injured and immediate ex-gratia payment to the families of the victims.
The AIMMM also demands a judicial inquiry and the transfer and prosecution of the police officers concerned.
The AIMMM is of the considered view that the spectre of communal violence will continue to stalk the land of the Mahatma with State support and cannot be halted and destroyed, unless Narendra Modi is out of power. The AIMMM, therefore, appeals to the secular forces of Gujarat to launch jointly a non-violent agitation for the removal of Narendra Modi."
