AIMMM Condemns Attack on Synagogues as Outrageous and Criminal
A Violation of Inter-Religious Tolerance and of Islamic Injunctions
New Delhi, 18 November, 2003: Shri Syed Shahabuddin, President of the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM), has issued the following Statement:
"The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) strongly condemns the terrorist attack on two synagogues in Istanbul, Turkey, on 15 November, 2003, not only as an outrageous act of criminality but as a violation of the principles of inter-religious tolerance and respect which is a basic pre-requisite for civilized co-existence in an increasingly
multi-religious world.
The AIMMM recalls the Islamic injunction against causing any damage or injury to any place of worship and apprehends that this act of terrorism may provides an excuse for enemies of Islam to attack Masjids all over the world.
The AIMMM laments the death of those killed in the outrage and conveys its sympathy to their next-of-kin."
