Appeals to All Citizens to Join Relief and Rehabilitation Effort
New Delhi, 28 December, 2004: Shri Syed Shahabuddin, President of the All India Muslim Majlis- e-Mushawarat (AIMMM), has issued the following Statement :
“The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) shares
the agony of the nation at the enormous loss of life caused by the tidal
wave Tsunami and conveys its sincere condolences to the thousands of
families, in our country, and in other neighbouring countries, which have
lost their near and dear ones.
The AIMMM appreciates the measures immediately undertaken by the Manmohan
Singh Government to alleviate human suffering and to rehabilitate those
who have lost their shelter.
The AIMMM appeals to all Muslim organizations and institutions functioning
in Tamil Nadu to form a Joint Relief Committee to contribute their
resources and energy for the relief and rehabilitation of those affected, without
any consideration of religion or caste. The AIMMM offers a
donation of Rs.100,000/- to form the core of the joint relief fund and
appeals to all citizens and organizations with means, to join in this
humanitarian effort.
