AIMMM Condemns Siege of Fallujah by USA as a War Crime and Crime against Humanity
CALLS upon American People to Stop US Government from Compounding its Crime against Iraq
APPEALS to Indian Government to Consult Friendly Governments on Strategy to Restore Peace in Iraq
New Delhi, 9 November, 2004: Shri Syed Shahabuddin, President of the All India Muslim Majlis- e-Mushawarat (AIMMM), has issued the following Statement :
"The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) deplores the continuance of the war of aggression by the USA against the people of Iraq and condemns the encirclement and siege of Fallujah and the unrestrained use of air and ground forces to reduce the city which may cause incalculable loss of civilian life and property and irreparable damage to its religious places. In the coming battle, Fallujah may be destroyed just as Hue, the historic religious center of Vietnam, was destroyed during the Vietnam War and just as Grozny was recently reduced to a rubble by the Russian forces in 1999.
The AIMMM considers that the approval of the US military action by the puppet government of Iraq cannot conceal the blatant violation of international law, amounting to a war crime and a crime against humanity.
The AIMMM is convinced that the freedom loving people of Fallujah shall resist the invasion by all possible means and that their heroic resistance will strengthen the forces of liberation all over Iraq.
The AIMMM is also of the view that Iraq can have neither peace nor democracy, while the war goes on and till the foreign forces quit Iraq.
The AIMMM appeals to the people of the USA forcefully to intervene to stop their government from compounding its criminal act against the people of Iraq.
The AIMMM also requests the Government of India to have consultations with friendly Governments to work out a common strategy for restoring peace in Iraq."
