Thanks the People of Maharashtra for Saving the Country
New Government should Pay Due Attention to
Grievances and Aspirations of Muslims
New Delhi, 16 October, 2004: Shri Syed Shahabuddin, President of the All India Muslim Majlis- e-Mushawarat (AIMMM), has issued the following Statement :
"The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) expresses its satisfaction at the victory of the INC-NCP Alliance in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections over the BJP-SS combination at this critical juncture. The people of the country owe a debt of gratitude to the people of Maharashtra for upsetting the plan of the Sangh Parivar to reverse the secular trend established in the General Election, 2004, and thus saving the country.
The AIMMM conveys its sincere felicitations to Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Shri Sharad Pawar, the leaders of the INC and NCP, whose personal participation in the election campaign made the real difference.
The AIMMM takes the opportunity to reiterate its hope that the new Government shall pay due attention to the genuine grievances and legitimate aspirations of the Muslim community which has rejected the machinations of other parties and stood by the Alliance."
