ALL INDIA MUSLIM MAJLIS-e-MUSHAWARAT

AIMMM Appreciates RJD Chief’s Dash to Siwan and Relief Measures
Requests Investigation by CBI and Extirpation of Mafia Gangs

New Delhi, 26 July, 2004
: Shri Syed Shahabuddin, President of the All India Muslim Majlis- e-Mushawarat (AIMMM), has issued the following Statement :

"The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) is shocked by the raging gang-warfare in Siwan-Gopalganj area which has recently taken its second toll of innocent lives within a few months.

The AIMMM has noted with appreciation the fact that Shri Laloo Prasad Yadav, President of the RJD, rushed to the disturbed area in the wake of the incident and announced general relief measures for the next-of-kin.

However, the AIMMM considers that what is needed is the complete dismantling of both the gangs, before the cycle of violence destroys inter-group amity.

Since such gangs often enjoy the support of local administration, the AIMMM proposes that to the Government of Bihar to hand over the investigation to the CBI and form special teams to nab the culprits and also requests the Central Government to extend necessary assistance in men and material to State Government to root out the criminal mafias operating in the region."
