AFMI Condemns Kidnapping of Pastor's Wife in Gujarat
Michigan (USA), 17 June, 2004: The American Federation of Muslims of Indian Origin (AFMI) today condemned the kidnapping and forced confinement of a pastor's wife by extremist elements in the Dahod district of Gujarat.
According to reports, Manjulaben D.Dinana (23), wife of Pastor Dharmesh S.Ninama of Fatehpura Taluka's Nanirail (east) of Dahod District, was robbed and kidnapped on May 29th 2004 at the local market by Devjibhai Hirabhai Pargi and his gang of hardcore criminal elements. She was being held captive in a tied up condition at the house of Shankarbhai Hirabhai Maal when Pastor Dharmesh and his relatives went there to seek her release. Instead, they were brutally attacked by Pargi's men.The kidnappers fled the scene with Manjulaben Dinana by the time police arrived and their current whereabouts are unknown.
The half hearted attempts by the police to secure here release have bore no results.
AFMI condemns the attacks on life and property of minorities in the state of Gujarat and demands that the state government and police machinery take immediate action in securing the release of Manjulaben D.Dinana.
AFMI demands that the law enforcement authorities apprehend the criminals involved in the kidnapping and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.
AFMI also calls on the Hon. Home Minister Shri Shivraj Patil to take stock of the law and order situation in Gujarat and take all necessary action to protect the life, property and liberty of all citizens.
