AIMMM Thanks Mulayam Singh’s Darbaris for not Crediting Him With Any Ambition To Be God or Prophet
Cautions Them Against Hurting Muslim Sentiments and Turning their Leader into a laughing Stock
New Delhi, 1 May, 2004: Shri Syed Shahabuddin, President of the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM), has issued the following Statement:
"The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) has taken note, with deep regret, of the advertisement in the daily Awam, New Delhi of 1 May, 2004, , edited by Mr. Shahid Siddiqui, a General Secretary of the Samajwadi Party, which gives credit to its leader Mulayam Singh Yadav for not wanting to be God or His Prophet.
The AIMMM thinks the supporters of the SP and its leader Mulayam Singh Yadav for this ‘modesty’ but it would like them to know that the advertisement is not only in bad taste but intolerably hurtful to the religious sentiments of the Muslim community, as no human being can ever be a God or Prophet, who cannot be compared to Prime Ministers and Chief Ministers.
The AIMMM has noted that earlier some admirers of Shri Yadav had compared him to Hazrat Imam Husain, the Martyr of Karbala, and he was rightly rebuked by the Muslim community.
The AIMMM would like to caution Shri Yadav that through such advertisements his darbaris are not promoting his cause but undermining his credibility and turning him into a laughing stock."
