Allahabad Court's Shocking AMU verdict
Chennai, 6 October, 2005: The verdict of the Allahabad High Court quashing the 1981 amendment to the AMU Act and stripping the University of its minority character is shocking
in as much as it is a clear case of miscarriage of justice. It is a travesty of truth to allege that the AMU was not established by Muslims through the funds and efforts of the community The Court is wrong in assuming that the AMU was just an ordinary routine creation of the Parliament. The Tamilnadu Muslim Makkal Katchi calls upon Muslims - be they alumni of the
University or not - to rise as one man, forgetting whatever differences they have amongst them, to protest against this grave injustice to the Muslim minority community and
strengthen the hands of those come forward to challenge the wrong interpretation of the AMU Act
