A.I.M. Maharashtra Flood Relief Fund / Program

According to rediff.com report of today on the flood/massive rain in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra has devastated this area. The report provides a list of localities in Mumbai that are still flooded. Last week Tuesday 37 inches of rain fell in this region in just one day. Yesterday another 14 inches of rain fell in this area, aggravating the bad situation further. To many this situation reminds us of the great flood in the time of Hadrat Noah alaihussalam, that resulted from Allah's displeasure with the doings of those people.

Mumbai and north Maharashtra is home to tens of millions of Muslims, most of whom are poor migrants from other parts of India, who live in very dilapidated shanty towns. For them this heavy rain/flood is a calamity that is threatening to destroy their life. Most of them have lost their homes and members of their family in this rain/flood. At this time, Association of Indian Muslims of America (AIM) appeals to all to take two actions.

1. After your salat please pray to Allah (swat) to have mercy on the people of this area and stop the devastating rain, and remove the terrible flood. In your mosques please request the imams to do a dua beseeching Allah for His mercy on the people of this area.

2. Knowing of the slow Government relief help to the victims, and especially Muslim victims, A.I.M. has initiated a special "Maharashtra Relief Fund". Kindly donate generously to this fund. All collected funds will be sent to the victims through reputed Muslim charities located in Mumbai. All donations to A.I.M. are tax deductible. [US Donors only]

Let us all remember that Allah tells us that if we help the needy, when we or our kith and kin are needy, Allah will return the favour to us.
