POTA case on Muslim youths not reviewed by POTA Review committee
Hyderabad, 19 July, 2005: Civil Liberties
Monitoring Committee expresses its great concern on POTA Review Committee ignoring Muslim youths at the time of reviewing POTA cases. POTA
Review Committee did not issue summons to the victim of POTA. On enquiring about it the
Committee simply told us that they didn’t receive any information regarding the cases of POTA against some Muslim youths.
State police still working under the clutches of communal police officers,
does not want to give any chance to Muslims to get justice, so they deliberately
did not submit the reports of POTA cases. This attitude shows how the police officers
are working to demoralize Muslims. This also proves how sincere the
Congress Govt is towards the protection of minorities.
In fact the first thing Congress govt did after coming to power was that
the Home Minister sanctioned POTA on three Muslim youths implementing them in
Dilsukhnagar bomb blast case, here congress broke its promise that POTA will not
be used in the state of A.P. So Congress cheated Muslims, but time will come when
Congress will face appropriate answer from the Muslim which will be fit
and fix for the Congress.
Civil Liberties herewith demanding to take steps to review POTA cases registered against Muslims and also
to take action against those police officers who misguided the Committee and
didn't submit the report.
