AIM - "Muslims condemn terrorist attack in
Ayodhya"
Washington DC. , 6 July, 2005: Association of Indian Muslims of America (AIM), a Washington DC based organization of expatriate Indian Muslims who live in the US, today condemned in strong words the terrorist attack yesterday on the site of the former Babri mosque in Ayodhya.
AIM President Kaleem Kawaja said that, even though the site that was attacked, is presently occupied by a illegally built Hindu temple, built forcibly by a mob of extremist Hindus, on the debris of the ancient Babri mosque, that they demolished, we still deplore the attack.
Kawaja said that even though the demolition of Babri mosque in 1992 is still a source of much anguish for the Muslims of India, they strongly oppose any effort to use force to change the status-quo at the disputed Babri mosque site in Ayodhya. On behalf of 150,000 Indian Muslim expatriates in the US, Kawaja urged the Indian government to expedite efforts in the U.P. High Court to resolve the long festering Babri mosque dispute quickly.
