Has The Pope Joined Hands with Bush-Blair in their Crusades? - CIM
London, 16 September, 2006: Council of Indian Muslims—CIM (UK) has condemned Pope Benedict’s remarks about Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) as "shocking, irresponsible, outrageous and insensitive, smacking of prejudice and complete ignorance about Islam and Islamic history".
"The world would have expected from the Pope. who happens to be the head of the largest faith sect, an informed and learned observation of historical facts and not such a base, ignorant, ignoble, inflammatory and politically charged remark about Islam and its Prophet." CIM’s Chairman Mr Munaf Zeena, who is also the Chairman of North London Muslim Community Centre and Co-Chair of Muslim Jewish Forum, said in a statement issued today.
"If the Pope was so concerned about world peace and if he felt so superior about his Christian ideals he should have directed his sermon to George Bush and Tony Blair who have blatantly waged a war against their so-called ‘Islamic fascism’ and supplied arms and cluster bombs to Israel to rain them on the hapless Lebanon. If he was so disturbed at the disrespect for human lives and wrongs being committed in the world he should have asked the Christian world to apologise to the Palestinians for displacing them and should have urged the Christian world to stop supporting the Zionist state of Israel in killing Palestinians on a daily basis. And while doing so he should have reminded himself of what the Christians did to the Muslims during the Crusades and after. " Zeena added.
"One fails to understand how someone at a position as the Pope’s could be so ignorant about history and insensitive to the disastrous consequences his remarks could have on the already highly volatile and dangerous environment in which we are living now. Or has he joined hands with Bush-Blair in their crusades?"
