COBRAS and TALWAR raaj in Andhra
People
should come forward to restore democracy in A.P.
Hyderabad: Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee strongly condemns the Govt of Andhra
Pradesh attitude towards Civil liberties movements. It is a matter of deep concern that "Cobras" and "Talwars" are growing with the backing of state. Govt has given free hand to police to suppress all civil liberties and mass movements. And Police is using "Cobras" and "Talwars" for this purpose. The attitude of state govt is in itself a big question mark on Democracy.
The recent fresh threatening calls with death warnings to Shri Lateef Mohammad Khan, Secretary, CLMCI, in the name of COBRAS indicate that the present govt doesn’t want any democratic voice to be present within this state and specially from a minority section. CLMC is taking it seriously and will expose the state/police links with Cobras/Talwars, and will opt all democratic measures to combat this undemocratic attitude of Govt.
Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee is a voice of the voiceless, and works for the cause of the protection of civil liberties and democratic rights.
The democrats/intellectuals and other mass organizations and
political leaders are silent at this moment. This silence is a big question mark on them. Why they are not opening their mouth. Are they under pressure? Are they wantonly ignoring this because Lateef Mohammad Khan belongs to the Muslim community? This partial attitude will become part of the history, and it will be always remembered.
Once again I am stating that CLMCI is voice of the common people; it is voice of truth. No one can stop this voice by threatening. One thing should be clear in this exercise: this type of govt will collapse and they must be ready to face people's anger.
I am hereby appealing to the people to come forward to protect the life of Lateef Mohammad Khan who is working for people's cause, and pressurize the govt to dissolve Cobras and Talwars and restore democracy.
