Revised PM’s Programme for Minority Welfare Welcomed
Urgent Implementation with Effective Monitoring Urged
For Effective Impact Targets Should Not be Qualitative, But Quantitative
New Delhi, 23 June,

Shri Syed Shahabuddin, President of the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM), has issued the following Statement:
"The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) appreciates and welcomes the approval of the revised version of the PM’s 15-Point Programme for the Welfare of the Minorities.
The revision has been on the anvil for 15 long yeas and the AIMMM, first of all, felicitates the UPA Government for completing this long-delayed national task.
The Programme is yet to be finalized, notified and implemented. But, the AIMMM feels that a monitoring mechanism must be instituted and there should be a Central and State Monitoring Committees to which the monthly progress reports of the Programme from Panchayat, Block and district levels should be available, for quarterly and six monthly review.
The AIMMM also proposes for target of various Sub-Programmes should be quantitative as far as possible and not qualitative, couched in terms of vague intent and token promises.
The AIMMM is also of the view the since minority population varies from place to place, the allotment for minorities under the relevant Schemes should not be fixed at 15% but in proportion to minority population in the operational area which, in most cases, is the Panchayat or the Block or the District.
The AIMMM is confident that given proper implementation and strict monitoring, the Programme shall make a positive impact on the educational, economic and social condition of the minorities."
