Appeals to Muslim Community to Maintain Peace
New Delhi, 8 April,
2006: "The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) expresses its deep concern at the anti-Muslim violence in Aligarh with effective participation of the police force and collusion of the administration. The AIMMM appreciates that in view of administrative failure, the State Government has transferred some senior officers including the ADM, the SSP, the SP.
The AIMMM demands that the magistrates who ordered the firing and police officers on duty who carried out the orders be held responsible for killing 6 Muslim youth in their prime and injuring a score of others and face suspension and prosecution.
The AIMMM also demands that the State Government should immediately announce ex-gratia compensation to the next-of-kin of those killed and injured on the scale laid down by the Supreme Court in Delhi Disturbances, 1984.
The AIMMM appeals to the Muslim community not to allow themselves to be swayed by emotions of revenge and to maintain patience and calm so as to cut short the cycle of violence and restore, peace and normalcy in the city so that communal conspiracy on eve of elections is defeated."
