Muslim Islamic NewsAppeal to Maintain Peace on AMU Campus

28 April 2007: We express our sense of shock, grief and indignation at the murder of Salik Kausar Mazhar ,a student of B.Tech. Of the Aligarh Muslim University on 25th of April,2007, the second in less than three weeks and also at the acts of gross indiscipline, especially of violence against university functionaries , student leaders and some offices and residences. We send our condolences to the bereaved families and express sympathy for all victims of vandalism.

In the absence of full facts and sequence of events , we are not in a position to express any opinion about how and why the university is facing such a moral and administrative crisis. We hope it will be possible for the University to inquire into the causes of such a sorry state of affairs.

We appeal to the University students, teachers, old boys and guardians to undertake the mission of saving the University from getting derailed.

We appeal to the students and all the well wishers of the University to make positive efforts to maintain peace in the University so that its academic functioning, especially holding of examinations does not suffer any dislocation.

We appeal to the district administration to speedily bring the guilty of both the killings to justice, which is the only way to inspire confidence in the effectiveness and impartiality of the law-enforcement system.
