Workshop on 'Media myths about Islam/Muslims' on July 17 at Bhatkal
Bhatkal (Karnataka): The Rabita Society, Bhatkal will organise a one-day media workshop on ‘Media myths about Islam/Muslims’ on July 17 at the Kazia Mohammed Hasan Hall, Rabita Complex, Bhatkal.
According to the convenor of the workshop Aftab H Kola, noted journalist Maqbool Ahmed Siraj will debunk the various myths in their historical and current political context and will provide a new perspective. Dr. Zafarul-Islam Khan, editor, Milli Gazette, New Delhi will preside over the workshop. The workshop will be organised from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm with lunch provided at the venue. To be conducted in Urdu this will be exclusive for the Muslims and will be an invitational one. Those interested to participate can contact the Rabita office, Bhatkal.
The media myths abound both because of deliberate mischiefs planted and floated by the fascists or because of innocent misgivings. Unless these myths are rebutted, refuted and replied, the positive image building of the Muslims would be difficult. The myths and concoctions fall under the following categories:
4. Law and Constitution
Myths are concocted about Muslims with ease and distorted history poisons the minds of innocent citizens. Their lapses are exaggerated and achievements belittled or obscured. And it is high time the Muslims are armed to debunk these myths at different fora.
