Fundraising dinner for Mumbai victims
Milli Gazette (online edition);
September 26, 2005
The unprecedented torrential rain this year in Mumbai has wrecked havoc on this commercial capital of India.More than1000 lives and properties worth crores of rupees have been lost. People and students living and studying in zopadpattis in low-lying areas are worst affected. They all are suffering untold miseries and need urgent help for relief and rehabilitation. No doubt, the central and state governments are doing their best. Even some local NGOs are rendering yeomen’s services. Still all this is not enough. Much more is required to be done.
In order to provide some succor and help to affected people in Mumbai, American Federation of Muslims of Indian origin (AFMI) – Canada in association with International Development and Relief Foundation has organized a Fundraising Dinner on Saturday, October 01/05 at Premium Banquet Hall, Lucknow St. Mississauga. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Aslam Abdullah, Editor of the Muslim Observer and the Minaret. Mr. Khalid Usman, Councilor of Markham will grace the occasion as Guest of Honor.
Tickets for the Fundraising Dinner are priced at $100.00 and $25.00 per person. Tax-deductible receipt will be given for the amount minusing the dinner expenses.
AFMI - Canada appeal to one and all to come forward and lend support for this noble cause. Moral support and lip sympathy, however, important and necessary are not sufficient. Affected people need your monitory support too. Remember, service to humanity is the best religion.
If you are unable to attend the fundraising dinner you may send your donation to AFMI – Canada, 2680 Lawrence Ave. East, suite 206, Scarborough ON. M1P 4Y4.
