Partawal (Maharaj Ganj): Some mischievous and unsocial elements had the temerity to lift the veils (burqa) of some women for “identification” who had come to cast votes in Partawal during the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections on 18 October. Male members strongly resented this and exchange of hot words turned into a communal clash between two groups when stones were freely used from both sides, resulting in injuries to at least half a dozen people. Two motorcycles were also damaged. Prompt action by police prevented the clash from spreading to other places. Eight persons from both groups were arrested.
