Indian Muslim Politics and People's democratic front
PRESS STATEMENT
The
Milli Gazette Online
With some Muslim Political Parties having coalesced in the shape of a broader conglomeration titled 'PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC
FRONT' on 15th of May, at Lucknow, the concept of Muslims electoral assertion has come in discussion
afresh. However, the move on the one hand reflects in one way a spirit of political awareness in the community that it has started thinking in terms of its own distinct electoral strength within the parameters of country's democratic system, but on the other its intellectual bankruptcy is visible in its decision to elect Ahmed Bukhari -an uneducated person of highly dubious track record - as its patron.( details from www.hindustantimes.com, local
page, dated, May 19,2006, Bukhari to Jawad: Wind up PDF)
It is unfortunate that the constituents of this front attached undue importance to Mr. Bukhari, and so his expectations also grew higher, and he started thinking in terms of his All India Muslim leadership, and started vehemently opposing the election of Maulana Kalbe Jawwad - a person of totally unblemished record- as the Chairman of this new alliance. By all mature standards, I can assert that those who have elected Bukhari as the patron of this front have exposed themselves to public derision. He Bukhari is not only a person of highly reprehensible credentials, but his status as the so-called Shahi Imam is also un-Islamic because in Islam the hereditary 'IMAMHOOD' is totally prohibited (Haram).
Besides, it is the same Ahmed Bukhari who had aligned with the BJP in the last Parliamentary elections and even
otherwise has always been ready to sell out the community for his selfish motives. It is really a matter of shame that in a community where still we have the reputed intellectuals like Syed Shahabuddin, the Editor of Milli Gazette, Dr. Zafrul Islam Khan, Syed Hamid and hosts of others, what logic the constituents of this Front have to adduce in electing Mr. Ahmed Bukhari as its Patron.
