Bush defends Secret prisons operated by America
Press
Statement of South Asian Council for Minorities
The
Milli Gazette Online
New Delhi: Acknowledgement & defense by US President Bush, of secret prisons operated by US secret agencies exposes the dual standards of present US administration as far as Human Rights are concerned.
The existence and admission of such prisons violates all international laws and human rights and rightly makes mockery of the values for which the US proudly claims to be part of its heritage, since its inception. Justification given by President Bush for existence of such uncivilized centers of torture exposes the dual standards of present US administration and needs condemnation in strongest possible terms.
The civilized world knows that President Bush is using all kinds of tactics, use of force and threats, world over, to pursue his own agenda in the name of fighting terrorism and ironically British PM Tony Blair is supporting President Bush.
Now it is high time for the civilized world and the United Nations, whose anti-terror panel, just few months back only, has severely criticized the operation of such torture centers and has termed them against UN Charter, to take note of the official admission by the US President and immediately demands the open trial of the prisoners held in such prisons and also the closure of these inhuman cells of tortures.
