ALIGARH, November 9: The
Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Students' Union has strongly condemned the decision of an Iraqi Tribunal, which has sentenced Saddam Hussain to death. The Secretary of Union, Mr. Sulaiman Mohd. Khan said that this court was set up by America and the judicial procedures adopted to arrive at this decision were highly questionable. He agreed with the view of Amnesty International, regarding this verdict, that it violated all norms of International Law and it would further increase violence in the Iraqi society. He said that President Bush is himself guilty of invading Iraq on a false pretext of presence of weapons of mass destruction and then committing war crimes in Iraq, and therefore his trial must be conducted by an International Tribunal. The President of the Union, Mr. Nafees Ahmad said that this verdict amounted to "Judicial Murder" and he added that Saddam Hussain was alleged to have been responsible for the murder of 148 people and he was given this punishment, but who would punish Mr. Bush who is responsible for the murder of more than seven lakh innocent Iraqis.
