New Delhi: Charity Alliance, an NGO headed by the MG
editor, will start a school in the
hunger belt in Murshidabad (West Bengal) starting from this coming
school year. Situated at Uttar Ghoshpara village near Jalangi town,
initially the school will start with classes 1-5 and will progress with
one more class annually thereafter. Charity Alliance has been working in
the area for he last four years offering regular ration, medical and
educational help to the victims of the hunger belt.
Last year in March, Charity Alliance also started two
vocational training schemes to teach tailoring and Zari to the victims and
other poor villagers in the area. Certificates will be distributed to
those who have completed the first batch, in a ceremony next month.
Murshidabad is a Muslim-majority district which is a
living testimony to the neglect suffered by the Muslims of India after
independence. The initial budget for the school is Rs 1,000,000 (ten lakh)
for both land and building and furniture. The school will start in a
rented house and will move to its own premises as soon as the building is
ready.
Well-wishers and readers are requested to donate
generously for this scheme. For details of the Charity Alliance please
