Over 2000 cases of Rajasthan waqfs pending in courts

Jaipur: In reply to a question by Abdul Saghir, MLA, the governement told him in the Rajasthan state assembly that 2156 cases of Rajasthan Waqf properties are pending in different courts, tribunals etc. of the state and country. The break-up of these pending cases is as follows: 2 cases in Supreme Court, 296 cases in Rajasthan High Court, Jaipur and Jodhpur, 836 cases in Rajasthan Waqf Board Jaipur, 978 cases with Waqf officers of Jaipur and 44 cases in civil courts. It may be stated that Waqf Board itself pleads these cases in courts at its own level. In order to make the Central Waqf Act 1995 more powerful and effective, the government, after setting up the Rajasthan Waqf Board, set up Waqf Tribunal and Waqf Survey Commissioner.
