Seminar on Islamic civilisation and politics

Aligarh: A two-day academic seminar on "the role of Islam in building civilisation and politics" was held here by the Idarah Tahqiaq-o Tasneef Islami of Jamaat-e islami Hind durig 23-24 February. The seminar was inaugurated by the chairman of the Idara and President of JIH Maulana Jalaluddin Umari and was presided over by Dr Zafarul-Islam Khan. Over 30 papers were presented during the seminar on the history of Islam in building civilisation, its ideological bases and future prospects. Dr Khan quoted Muhammad Asad who had said in a private meeting in Tripoli four decades ago that the world will not accept Islam unless a working model of Islam was presented to it. He called for a robust think tank for Indian Muslims.
