New Delhi, 1 April, 2014: Mr. Syed Shahabuddin, Convener, JCMOE has issued the following press note:
An urgent meeting of Joint Committee of Muslim Organizations for Empowerment (JCMOE) was held at 4.00 PM on 17 March, 2014.
The meeting confirmed that the voting strategy it had developed was perfectly suitable even in a General Election to achieve the objective of the secular forces to raise the representation of secular members, particularly of Muslims and other deprived groups in the coming Parliament as well as to defeat the BJP and promote and help the formation of a secular Government.
The JCMOE also reiterated its coincidered view that the only way to raise the representation of deprived groups, in the absence of Reservation or Proportional Electoral Representation System as well as the impossibility of united voting by all secular voters on a national, state or district basis is to ensure that as far as possible, all secular votes at the constituency level are united and they massively vote in favour of one selected and experienced secular candidate, acceptable to all groups irrespective of the party or religion or caste.
The JCMOE also confirmed the Guidelines as suggested in the past to form a Representative Consultation Committee in every constituency in future to interview the candidates in the field and select the best and the most winnable secular candidate, as well as canvass for him through all possible means.
The JCMOE also decided that it shall issue a State-wise chart showing the Muslim majority or dominant seats, names of the parties which won in 2004 and 2009 and of prominent parties, except the BJP, contesting in 2014.
The JCMOE reiterated its appeal to the deprived voters that as far as possible, they should not be divided in any constituency and vote unitedly and massively.
