Sad demise of Maulana Shafi Moonis

New Delhi (6 April 2011): Maulana Muhammad Shafi Moonis (born 1918), an important member of the All India Muslim Majlis-e Mushawarat and one of its former vice presidents and general secretaries, died here this afternoon. He was among the earliest members of Jamaat-e Islami Hind and had joined it in 1944. A former General Secretary of Jamaat-e Islami Hind, he was currently an honorary adviser to its President and member of Jamaat’s central advisory and representative councils. He played an active role in the Muslim community’s affairs during the last five decades and was considered as one of the important pillars of the community in recent decades.

His Namaz-e Janaza will be performed at the Markaz Jamaat-e Islam's Mosque in Abul Fazal Enclave, Delhi, after the ‘Isha prayers tonight (6 April / 8:30pm) and he will be buried in the Batla House qabristan in Okhla.
