New Delhi (15 May, 2014): The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat, the most important non-political organization of a federal character, was formed on 8-9 August, 1964 in Lucknow to deal with the common Muslim concerns. The Mushawarat has now its Central Office in a building of its own, with a library as well as an auditorium and meeting rooms. Its current President is Dr. Zafarul-Islam Khan, editor, The Milli Gazette, New Delhi. Its past Presidents have been the late Dr. Syed Mahmud, the late Mufti Atiqur Rahman Usmani, the late Shaikh Zulfiqarullah, Syed Shahabuddin, and former President. Maulana Mohammad Salim Qasmi who is now Chairman of Mushawarat’s Supreme Guidance Council.
The Mushawarat, is the oldest living Muslim organisations, next to Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadis, Jamiat Ulama-i- Hind, Tablighi Jamaaat and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind. It would be completing its Golden Jubilee on 8-9 August, 2014. The AIMMM has decided to celebrate this occasion in a suitable manner including holding a National Conference to review its historic role and achievements, with the association of all living participants in the 1964 meeting as well as those who have been associated with it at various stages, either nationally or in various States since then as well as Presidents of state units of the Mushawarat since 1964.
It is proposed that the Jubilee should commemorate the work of these pioneers by publishing a Memorial Volume which will contain, inter alia, brief biographies, names of original participants as well as texts of important Resolutions and other Statements, issued by the AIMMM subsequently on various national and international issues since 1964. All past and present associates, who may have retired from public life, have also been requested to participate in the Jubilee and to send papers and documents of Mushawarat with them, with a brief statement on their association and photograph to be published in the Memorial Volume.
The Mushawarat has formed a Reception Committee which includes the current heads of participation organizations which 1964.
