In this book Dr Ishrat Naheed has covered in detail the life and services of Hayatullah Ansari, journalist and fiction writer who, with his bold and fearless journalism played an important role in the country’s independence. Born in Lucknow, he did BA from Aligarh University. Hayatullah Ansari was initially associated with the Progressive Literature movement and was editor of the weekly Hindustan for some time. Subsequenlty he became the editor of Congress Party’s official newspaper Qaumi Awaz. In addition to journalism he used to write short stories and fictions also. His voluminous novel Lahoo ke Phool based on the history of India’s freedom struggle was published in 1969. In this way he rendered unforgettable services to Urdu literature. In this book Dr Ishrat has shed complete light on Ansari Saheb’s multi-sided personality and through this book the future generation will get acquainted with Hayatullah Ansari’s personality and achievements and his position and standing in literature will also be fixed. Dr Ishrat Naheed completed her education under the sponsorship of her father, (late) Mahmood Zaki, famous poet and author from Ujjain and her uncle Prof Sadiq, former President of Delhi University’s Urdu Department.
