JMI hostel for trainees of career building courses

New Delhi: University Grants Commission (UGC) has provided Rs 15 crore to Jamia Millia Islamia for building a hostel for trainees belonging to SC, ST, OBC categories, Muslims and women for whom free coaching classes are held by JMI for providing training for different job-oriented professional and civil service courses and examinations. Jamia Millia Islamia started the Centre for Coaching and Career Planning for aspirants of civil services and other professional courses in October 2010 but only teaching and coaching was provided to them. There were no arrangements for the accommodation of such students who came from outside Delhi. Hence, UGC granted Rs 15 crores for building a hostel for these students. Jamia’s Centre for Coaching and Career Planning is funded by UGC and Union ministry for minorities affairs.
