SIO Bengali journal Unmesh launched

Kolkata: Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO), West Bengal chapter, feeling the need to generate fresh perspectives and intellectual discourse mainly among young readers launched a new tri-monthly journal in Bengali called Unmesh. In the inaugural ceremony held at Jinbanondo Sabhaghar (Kolkata) on 5 April, editor of Unmesh, Shahnawaz Ali Raihan, spoke on ‘responsibility of intellectuals’ and pointed out the paramount responsibility intellectuals should shoulder.

The magazine was launched by Syed Shamsul Alam, Vice Chancellor of Aliyah University. Congratulating the team behind Unmesh, he recollected the glorious past of the Islamic civilisation and the contributions of Muslim scholars towards the development of intellectual map of the world. Sarwar Hasan, state president of SIO, West Bengal and Sabir Ali , publisher of the magazine were also present in the ceremony.
