Fight between Deobandis and Barelvis leads to the death of a person in mosque

Muradabad: Fight between Deobandis and Barelvis is nothing new. One such fight in a mosque in Dalpatpur in Muradabad district resulted in the death of a youngman and serious injuries to seven persons.

According to police, tension and disagreement between the people of these two sects over Imam of this mosque had been going on for about four months though people of both sects were offering namaz in this mosque.

On Friday 15 April this took a serious turn when after night prayer (Isha namaz) both groups came face to face. Physical fight between the followers of the two sects took a serious turn when lathis and stone were used.

Twenty-four year old Kamil received severe lathi blows on his hand and face. He began to bleed profusely. He was rushed to the nearest hospital but succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital. At least seven persons from both sides were also seriously injured. Though the situation has been brought under control, tension is still there. Police in large number has been posted there.
