FAUZIA, a resident of Hauz Rani locality adjacent to Malviya Nagar (Delhi) won two gold medals in schools national judo champions, again won gold medal two times in junior national judo championship and won a silver medal in All India Inter-University Judo championship. At present she is imparting training as judo coach in DAV Public School, Kailash Hills. She aspires to do much more in life.
IRSHAD HUSAIN FAROOQI, a known artiste of calligraphy in wood carving was honoured with an award by Rajasthan’s minister for industries, Rajinder Parikh. He is the lone artiste in the country who was honoured with National Award by Govt. of India in recognition of his 3-dimensional calligraphy on wood. Earlier, he had been honoured with many other awards including Kala Nidhi Award given to him by Haryana governor A.R. Qidwai and Maulana Qazi Sajjad Husain Award by Hamd-o-Naat Academy, New Delhi.
Six-year-old MUHAMMAD SAALIK, son of Muzaffar Ali of Amroha is a class I student in school but at home he has completed naazira Qur’an i.e., simply reading of Qur’an as most of Muslims do, without understanding the meaning of the text. He was taught Qur’an by Ms. Shama Shoaib.
SHEIKH MUJTABA FAROOQ, an active social worker has been elected President of the newly formed Jamaat-e Islami’s political party, Welfare Party of India which was launched on 18 April, for a period of two years.
General Manager of North-Eastern Railway, K.B.L. Mittal while inaugurating Railway Week at the Headquarters at Gorakhpur on 20 April awarded 156 railway employees for good and efficient work. Of these 156, 14 are Muslim employees who were honoured with awards.
SAEED AKHTAR MIRZA, Director of the Society for Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), who is also winner of National Award has been appointed by the government President of FTII, Pune. The Society has been reconstituted for a period of 3 years with effect from March ‘11 or till further orders.
Dr. TAJUDDIN ANSARI, former Zonal Chairman of the ministry of food and civil supplies, has been appointed National Coordinator of OBC. He played an important role in the loans of bunkars being written off. He has been assigned the task of working for the welfare of other Backward Classes and to advise government about their welfare schemes.
Mrs. YASMEEN ABRAR, a member of National Commission for Women (NCW) since 2005 has been appointed interim chairperson of this Commission in place of former chairperson Mrs. Girija Vyas whose term expired on 8 April. Mrs. Yasmeen Abrar, who has taken over her new charge, will be holding this post till a permanent incumbent is appointed under National Commission for Women Act, 1990. Wife of late Dr. Abrar Ahmad, former Union minister, she was also a MLA from Sawai Madhopur assembly constituency of Rajasthan.
Maulana MUHAMMAD WALI RAHMANI, Chairman of Rahmani Foundation of Munger and secretary of All India Muslim Personal Law Board has been elected Vice Chairman of Maulana Azad Foundation by the Foundation’s general body.
Prof. TAUQEER AHMAD KHAN, an expert on Allama Iqbal and author of many literary books has been appointed President of Delhi University’s Department of Urdu for a period of 3 years in place of former President, Prof. Irtiza Kareem whose term expired in the first week of April. Prof. Tauqeer took over has new charge on 10 April.
MUHAMMAD ADEEB, Rajya Sabha MP, has been appointed a member of AMU Court till the period he is Rajya Sabha MP. In addition to him two others namely Dr. MUHAMMAD P, Director of AMU’s Mallapuram Centre and Dr. MUHAMMAD YASEEN, Director of AMU’s Murshidabad Centre have also been appointed to AMU Court. The appointments of Dr. P. Muhammad and Dr. Yaseen are for one year or as long as they are Directors of their centres.
maulana NUSRAT ALI who has been working as general secretary of Jamaat-e Islami for the past 4 years has again been appointed general secretary by the Jamaat’s Ameer Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umri for a further period of 4 years from 2011 to 2015 after the expiry of his term in 2011.
President Pratibha in her capacity as Visitor of Aligarh Muslim University has appointed Prof. VALERIN RODRIGUES of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)’s Centre of Political Studies as her nominee in AMU’s Court for a period of 3 years with immediate effect.
M. SHAHID ZUBERI and Dr. ABDUL MAAJID ZUBERI were elected President and Manager respectively of Madrasa Makhzanul Uloom, Saharanpur. Both these people were elected unopposed. Dr. Abdul Maajid Zuberi’s election/appointment was in place of former manager, Hafiz Ayaz Zuberi who died recently.
Prof. MAS’OOD ANWAR ALVI, Head of the Department of Arabic in AMU has been appointed a Member AMU Court in his capacity as senior President of the Department for a period of 3 years or till the period he is Head of this Department.
