Representative body’s message to Muslims

New Delhi: A representative meeting of the Muslim community, which included noted community leaders, ulama and intellectuals, was held here on 3-4 October. The meeting was attended by representatives of various regions, organisations and almost all Muslim sects found in the country.

Representing the traditions of exchange of opinions, and the conventions of an honourable assembly, the meeting was a unique gathering. It resolved to hold similar sessions in future for discussing milli and deeni affairs, to share Millat’s trials and tribulations and to form a collective strategy for facing various challenges. The following message was issued by the conclave to guide the Millat to face various problems coming its way:
(1) Stick to the religious tenets in all circumstances and face with patience the current situation. Do not be a part of any polytheistic customs like Surya Namaskar, Yoga, Vande Matram and Saraswati Vandana, etc.;
(2) Cooperate with each other in the affairs of Da’wah, reform of Millat, strengthen the system of purifying and training and take advantage of and cooperate with such institutions;
(3) Smoothen contacts and proximity between various heads of organisations, institutions, khanqahs and sects;
(4) Rise above the level of various organisations, institutions, khanqahs and sects to show the strength of faith and unity of the Millat;
(5) Cooperate with the united platforms of the Indian Muslims, particularly the Muslim Personal Law Board which is an honourable forum of Muslims;
(6) Create close cooperation between all the oppressed and deprived classes of the country and carry out a joint campaign against cruelty and oppression. Also, every effort should be made to remove all the misunderstandings found in the Muslim  society; and
(7) Systematic campaign should be carried out against polytheistic customs if they are imposed upon Muslims. An organised campaign will be waged against them.
