VP releases Dr. Hashim Kidwai’s auto-biography

New Delhi: The Vice President, Muhammad Hamid Ansari released the auto-biography of his teacher and former MP, Dr. Hashim Kidwai on 28 September. In a function organised at his official residence, the Vice President released the book entitled, “Life and Times of a Nationalist Muslim”.  Leading Urdu journalist Ma’soom Moradabadi, conducting the function, introduced Dr. Kidwai’s the author and his book to the audience.  He said, “Dr. Hashim Kidwai is a moving encyclopaedia of our 100-year-old history.”

Releasing the book, the Vice President said, “It is rather difficult for a student to release the book of his honoured teacher. Dr. Hashim Kidwai is a committed person and I’ve learnt a lot from him during my student days.” He said the lessons he learnt from him on the politics of the Middle East and West Asia, are still etched in his mind. He added that the auto-biography of Dr. Kidwai is a history of a period, which he wrote very carefully and the most interesting part of it is the history of the Congress party.

Famous Urdu critic, Prof. Siddiqur-Rahman Kidwai, said on the occasion, “This book doesn’t belong to one person only. Instead, it is the history of a period. At that time, the way the nationalist Muslims fought tooth and nail against the Muslim League, is a painful story which Dr. Kidwai has put down on paper.”

Former MP, Muhammad Adeeb, said, “Dr. Hashim Kidwai is Sir Syed’s true disciple. As a teacher of AMU, he imparted the best of training to his students.” Adeeb further said that Dr. Kidwai has narrated in a very effective manner the fight between the Muslim League and the Nationalist Muslims.

The main participants of the function were the AICC minority cell’s former chairman, Imran Kidwai, renowned Urdu journalist, Shaikh Manzoor Ahmad, chairman of Shah Waliullah Intitute Mufti Ataur-Rahman Qasmi, General Secretary of Anjuman Taraqqui-e-Urdu (Hind) Dr. Ather Farooqui, Director of Ghalib Institute, Dr. Raza Hyder, Dr. Aleemuddin Kidwai (AMU), Rashid Kidwai and Congress leader, Mirza Jawed.
