Imams' council slams Sangh Parivar for anti-Tipu campaign

Gulbarga, November 6, 2015: The All India Imams’ Council has condemned the Vishva Hindu Parishad and other Sangh Parivar organisations for allegedly spreading falsehood and indulging in a misleading campaign about Tipu Sultan and portraying him as an anti-Hindu.

District president of the council, Maulana Atiq-ur-Rehman, told press persons here on Thursday that Tipu Sultan was being wrongly projected as a person who had converted many Hindus to Islam and a person who had damaged 8,000 temples.

“There is no historical evidence for all these claims and they are being spread by the Sangh Parivar to sully the image of the great warrior who stood against the British and to create ill-will among communities.”

Mr. Atiq-ur-Rehman also condemned the statement of VHP leaders that they would disrupt the State-sponsored birth anniversary celebrations of Tipu Sultan in the State and said that the anniversary was observed every year and for the first time the State government is sponsoring the celebrations and all moves to disrupt the celebrations would be thwarted.
