Book says Ayodhya is not the birth place of Ram

Irrespective of Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi dispute and court’s verdict, Muslim Personal law Board’s Asstt General Secretary and spokesperson, advocate Abdur Rahim Qureshi said at a press conference at India Islamic Cultural Centre on 2 November that Ayodhya city in Faizabad district is not the same Ayodhya where Lord Ram is said to have been born. He said this while speaking to media persons on the occasion of the release of his book. Facts of Ayodhya Episode. He said that ‘I make an appeal with folded hands to my countrymen that they should try to understand the facts about Babri Masjid.’ He said that with the help of ASI’s documents and with reference to different historical documents and study of other documents, Vedas and Puranas etc. and after his own long research, as mentioned in his above-mentioned book it has come to light that present Ayodhya is not his birth place. Rather, he said, Bhagwan Ram’s birth had taken place in Pakistan’s Rahman dairy which, before independence, was known as Ram dairy. He said before the media persons that according to Hindu religion Ram’s birth had taken place more or less 5000 years ago (according to another newspaper, in or around 5114 BC). At that time there was no dispute about Hindu and Muslim. He further said that according to some other historical documents his birth place was in Sita Sindhu which was somewhere near the seven rivers Saraswati, Sindh and 5 rivers of Punjab (Satluj, Beas, Ravi, Chenab and Jhelum) whereas the present Ayodhya City had come into existence in 7th century AD. He further said that (Mr.) Jassoo Ram of ASI found in his researches that Bhagwan Ram was born in Dera Ismail Khan district (Pakistan)’s Rahman Dairy town which at one time was known as Ram Dairy. Abdur Rahim Qureshi further said that what is today called Sarjoo river is in fact not Sarjoo but Ghagra river. He said that in 1885 when Bairagis had murdered Shah Ghulam Husain along with 268 other people and had captured and occupied Babri Masjid, Hindus of that place had freed this Masjid from Bairagis and blood that had be spilt was washed and cleaned and then the Masjid was handed over to Muslims. He asked if Babri Masjid was built after destroying the mandir, why our Hindu brethren would have returned it back to Muslims when it was Occupied by Bairagis? In reply to a question he said that Babar had nothing to do with Babri Masjid. It was built by a governor of his (Babar’s). He further said that Goswamy Tulsi Das had written Ram Charit Manas in Ayodhya during the time of Humayun and if Babri Masjid was built after demolishing any mandir, he (Tulsi Das) would have mentioned and written with his blood in expression of his deep sorrow and grief but he did not mention any such thing. He said that many other proofs do not indicate or prove that Bhagwan Ram’s birth had taken place in the present Ayodhya.
